Take your diving to the next level with five specialty dives—like deep, navigation, night or wreck—designed to expand your skills, confidence and underwater comfort. You’ll learn advanced buoyancy control, underwater navigation techniques and how to plan longer, deeper dives safely.

This selection includes only the two-day Advanced Open Water dive sessions at Lake Hydra in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania—a flooded quarry hiding planes, trucks, boats, and even helicopters—where you’ll put your new skills to the test. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver e-Learning module is sold separately and must be completed before you hit the water.

Who Can Take This Course?

  • A diver with a PADI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent from another agency)

  • Minimum age of 15
    – Divers aged 12–14 can enroll and earn a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification, then upgrade once they turn 15.
    – All Adventure Dives that go deeper than 18 m/60 ft require participants to be at least 15.

  • Completed paperwork
    – Continuing Education Administrative Form (PADI 10038 or EU 10541)
    – Diver Medical Form (PADI 10346)

  • Completed E-Learning

    – PADI Advanced Open Water Diver E-Learning

Gear Requirements

  • Personal gear: Students must bring their own dive mask and dive booties—these items are highly personal for fit and comfort.

  • Provided gear: All other equipment is included (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, fins, tanks, weights).

Other Requirements

  • Divers are responsible for arranging their own accommodations and purchasing weekend Lake Hydra passes—both available at https://www.lakehydra.com/.
